Enrollment Guide
Your Benefits Stipend (Flex Credits)
As a School District employee, you receive two local stipends (also called
flex credits):
- The first stipend (OptnFlexCr) may only be used for the State's medical
plan.
- The second flex credit (ProgFlexCr) may cover any remaining expenses
for medical plan costs not covered by the first flex credit. The second
flex credit may also be used for:
- dental,
- vision care,
- life and AD&D coverage,
- blood bank insurance.
The amount of your flex credits is in accordance with the current negotiated
contract or is based
on special Board action. The enrollment website will help you determine
your total per pay
period costs for the benefits you elect. The site calculates the total
cost for your benefits, and then
applies your flex credit amount.
When you select your benefits, you are limited to your own flex credits.
If the cost of your benefits
exceeds your flex credits, you will have to pay the excess through payroll
deductions. Make sure you look at your coverage and election options and
choose the plan that best fits your family and personal needs.
